Summer Enrichment Program

Hunter College Campus Schools Summer Enrichment Program for the Gifted

Hunter College Campus Schools’ Summer Enrichment Program will run again for its 41st year in July, 2026! We accept students identified as gifted and talented who are entering grades 1-7 from the New York area, nationally, and internationally.
 
WHAT
This summer, the Hunter Summer Program offers students an engaging and enriching academic experience designed for curious learners who enjoy challenge, creativity, and meaningful exploration. The program is built to help students deepen their understanding of themselves and the world while developing the skills to contribute thoughtfully and ethically to their communities.

Our Approach to Learning
The program is led by experienced and passionate educators who create dynamic classrooms through:
- Project-based learning, where students explore real-world topics through hands-on projects
- Inquiry-based learning, encouraging curiosity, questioning, and critical thinking
- Creative expression, integrated across subjects including the arts, music, and writing

Daily Academic Experience
Students participate in a consistent, structured schedule that balances rigor with creativity and movement. Each day includes:
Three core classes:
- Math/Science
- Reading/Writing
- The Arts (visual arts or music)

90-minute class periods that allow for deep learning
Short breaks between classes for snacks, movement, and rest
Lunch and recess (outdoor when weather permits)

Sample Daily Schedule
- Arrival: 8:30–8:55 AM (optional breakfast/recess)
- Classes begin: 9:00 AM
- Mid-morning break: 10:30 AM
- Lunch & recess: 12:00–1:00 PM
- Final class: 1:00 PM
- Dismissal: 2:25–2:40 PM

WHEN
Our program is held from Monday through Thursday each week at our campus at 71 E. 94th Street. The program begins on Monday, July 6th and runs until Thursday, July 30th. Instruction begins promptly at 9:00 am.
 
EXTENDED DAY OPTION
We offer an Athletic Training Program for 3rd through 7th graders and Movement & Physical Education for 1st and 2nd graders. Each day, students will engage in various activities and projects. The extended day program will run from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm. Dismissal for extended day students begins at 4:30 pm and ends no later than 4:45 pm. The cost for this program is $525, which is also eligible for the 10% sibling discount. You can indicate your interest in the extended day option upon initial application on the website. Please note that the extended day option is not prorated.
 
COST
The cost of the 2026 program is $3,000. It is $100 to apply and hold your child’s spot in our program. This is a non-refundable fee that will be applied to the program cost upon registration. Upon enrollment, you will eventually be notified whether your child has been accepted. Within this notice of acceptance will be a link for you to finalize enrollment in our program.
